We had such a blast at the Markham Museum wedding in spite of the fact that the heavens opened up right after the Bride and Groom did their first look. It poured down rain for almost 2 hours, making an outdoor ceremony a no-go. Instead the bride and groom got to have their ceremony in the historic Markham Chapel which was so lovely and quaint. And, as luck would have it, as Christine and Chris said “I do”, the sun came out making it possible to do their bridal party photos outside. Hurrah! I had such a great time at this wedding as I am huge fan of historical buildings and architecture, it was a real treat for me to be able to wander around the grounds of Markham Museum.

A huge congrats to Christine and Chris – wishing you a lifetime of happiness together.

Markham Museum Wedding, Markham Ontario

Laurel is an award winning photographer with an Honours B.A. in Fine Art History from the University of Toronto. She continued her artistic studies in photography and art/design while living in Paris, France, the Czeck Republic, Montreal and Dubai. Laurel has a love for travel and has been fortunate enough to see/photograph most of the world; she toured Africa, Europe and China on personal trips and saw the rest of the world while working as a flight attendant for Emirates Airlines. Laurel met and married her super awesome and supportive husband (a fellow Canadian) while living in Dubai and together they have 2 beautiful children who are a constant inspiration to her and her work. In the rare moments that Laurel does not have a camera in hand, she loves spending as much time as she can outdoors at her family cottage in Muskoka, wakeboarding (how she met her husband), skiing, reading historical fiction (do not get me started on my love of Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series) and refinishing vintage furniture.

Laurel’s style is warm, romantic and ethereal and a session with her is fun, lighthearted and easy. So in other words, if you want a boring photographer with no personality, you aren’t going to like Laurel…get ready to laugh and joke with her. Laurel’s clients return to her year after year not only for her work but for the experience they are guaranteed of when they work with her. Laurel makes it a point to connect with each of her clients as the relationship you have with your photographer is reflected in the photography. Laurel finds beauty in life every day, especially capturing the precious fleeting moments between loved ones.  She specializes in Ontario rustic weddings, Ontario cottage weddings, Ontario barn weddings, Ontario nature inspired weddings, Ontario shabby chic weddings, and Ontario vintage weddings in the Southern Ontario and Muskoka.

Laurel Leaf Photography is a registered business in Ontario, with a studio is based out of Ajax, Ontario. Laurel shoots primarily in the GTA, Durham and Muskoka regions of Ontario, however, seeing as she loves to travel, she also works internationally from time to time. She returns to Dubai periodically to photograph her clients there and has shot destination weddings in Jamaica. Laurel has also photographed actors such as Tara Spencer-Nairn (Corner Gas), Stefanie Drummond (Mean Girls) & Kate Spurgeon (Who is Clark Rockefeller?) and was the photographer for the Chef de Mission Delegates Conference for the 2015 Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games.
